I endorse Derek Pfaff!
I have known Derek for several years due to his service as a commissioner on the Historic Preservation Commission. I have always found him to be a man with high standards and morals and never one to have a personal agenda. I think that Derek will be an excellent choice for the open seat on the City Council.
I support Derek Pfaff for Sedona City Council. Derek has the intellect,
integrity, and passion for finding solutions to the many challenges our
community faces. His leadership and dedication give me confidence in his
ability to be an excellent councilor. He listens to resident concerns, is a fast
learner, and truly cares about Sedona. He has been an advocate for local
control, has been a strong proponent for public education, and has been an
active volunteer since moving to Sedona. We often hear his voice on social
media, and at city council meetings on issues of concern to residents. Derek
is committed to improving the quality of life for his constituents. I urge your
favorable consideration of his candidacy.
Derek Pfaff understands our Sedona community and our issues. He brings not only his volunteer and professional experience to the table but also his listening skills. He will be a great asset on the City Council.
Derek is a conscientious and thoughtful Sedona resident who will make an excellent council member.
Derek has prior experience serving the community on the Historic Preservation Commission; he’s a passionate supporter of our schools; he’s knowledgeable about the issues facing Sedona, and importantly, brings an intelligent and pragmatic perspective to tackling these subjects with recognition for the balance needed for our diverse range of stakeholders.
Derek's legal background and his history of engaging on Sedona issues will serve him well on the Council.
I believe Derek Pfaff is the best candidate to serve in the open seat for city councilor. He understands Arizona law, the need for housing, our traffic challenges, and the major issues for Sedona. He has served the City on the Historic Preservation Commission, attended the Police Academy and can listen and think critically, and I believe he will be an excellent city councilor. Please join me in voting for Derek in the election on July 30, 2024.
The two most important issues impacting our quality of life and the health of our community are traffic and housing.
Traffic is an inconvenience and housing is a critical need. The 44 acres comprising the former Cultural Park is an opportunity to create a significant contribution to our workforce housing. Derek Pfaff's experience as a real estate attorney will be an invaluable asset to help the City Council navigate the complex development of this property.
Please join me in supporting Derek Pfaff for City Council.
Derek's open-mindedness and ability to listen to a broad audience is balanced by his good sense of discernment. He is thoughtful, grounded, and willing to do the due diligence necessary to make good decisions on behalf of the people of Sedona. Derek will make an excellent Council Member for the City of Sedona.
I appreciate Derek’s combination of experiences: Sedona volunteer, real estate attorney, thoughtful intellectual, and dad of school-aged kids. Derek brings a commitment to our residents and a practical approach to the management of tourist issues.
Derek Pfaff is experienced, knowledgeable, and hardworking. Sedona needs him on our City Council as we continue making decisions
and moving forward.
After meeting and getting to know him, my wife, Arlene, and I fully support and endorse Derek for City Council. He has been actively engaged in our community since moving here years back, supports our public schools, and has the interests of “normal,” full-time Sedona residents as his top priority.
Neil Singer, M.D., and his wife Bonny have been residents of Sedona for 28 years and have seen a lot of changes in Sedona. We wholeheartedly endorse Derek for City Council and expect that he will improve the lives of Sedona residents.
I believe that Derek Pfaff is the right person to be elected as a new member of the Sedona City Council. Derek is community-minded, connected to local schools and family life in Sedona, and is a critical thinker. I believe Derek brings a positive attitude about the future of Sedona and can help forge a path of consensus between the business community, new and long-time residents, and the area's non-profit organizations.
I support Derek for Sedona City Council.
I’ve explored Derek’s website, particularly the topics he addresses in the Issues Section. Please take the time to see how his approach puts residents and workers first in his deep, long-term nuanced views. I think that this is just what we need more of- more leaders who “Listen, Learn and Engage” in the spirit of understanding the long-term effects of decisions that continue to be affected by outside forces.
I particularly appreciate Derek’s view on traffic. We need to expand public transit for residents, workers and visitors! More transit means fewer cars. We are in a transition time when it comes to solving Sedona’s traffic choke points and neighborhood, non-highway access. Derek recognizes that actionable “improvement” is a reasonable goal given the historic, geologic and community barriers Sedona government and community face. I agree with Derek that strategic changes that may seem small will add up. This approach will keep us moving in the right direction on other issues we face such as the use of the Dells and outdoor entertainment venues. Derek’s attitude of listening and learning, combined with forward, improvement-oriented decisions will be an asset to our council. I am happy to endorse Derek and deeply appreciate Derek's taking on this time consuming commitment to Sedona.
I am proud to endorse Derek for Sedona City Council. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, particularly in his role as a real estate attorney. His legal expertise and deep understanding of property issues are exactly what Sedona needs to navigate the complexities of urban planning and development. Derek's commitment to the community is unwavering. He has consistently demonstrated a passion for preserving Sedona's natural beauty while advocating for responsible growth and development. His professional background equips him with the unique ability to tackle the challenges facing our city with insight and integrity. Moreover, his vision for Sedona balances progress with preservation. He is dedicated to ensuring that our city's growth is sustainable, inclusive and beneficial for all residents. His pragmatic approach and strong problem-solving skills will be invaluable assets to the City Council. He will listen to the concerns of the community and strive to made decisions that reflect the best interests of all Sedona residents. I am confident that Derek will be a dynamic and effective member of the Sedona City Council. His expertise, dedication, and vision make him the ideal candidate to help guide our city toward a prosperous and balanced future.
I am Mark TenBroek and as an eight-year resident of Sedona I endorse Derek Pfaff for City Councilor. The primary reason I endorse Derek is that he is an active listener to resident concerns, the chief of which is appropriate tourism. Derek understands that we need to actively manage who we want to visit and how they visit Sedona to reduce the negative impacts that can result from improper visitation. Management of Peak Visitation helps the entire community by reducing traffic and evening out the peaks in valleys of when tourists come to our community.
We are fortunate to have Derek throw his hat into the ring for Sedona City Council as he brings a well-rounded and needed background with him. Personally, I feel that with one councilor retiring, now is an excellent time to bring in a new face with new ideas, one who listens and communicates well with the residents of Sedona. Even though Derek would be new to an elected city position, he's not new to volunteering, group participation, our history, our educational system, or the needs of Sedona residents and businesses. As a native Arizonan, Derek has chosen Sedona to raise his children and I'm confident that he wants to protect our beautiful surroundings and environment for future generations. Lastly, I see his background in real estate law and experience to be of great value to Sedona as the City works with the State to ensure housing availability, land protection, and responsible management of tourism.
We endorse Derek for City Council because he has a good grasp of our issues, and will work to find solutions that make sense for our complex community. A healthy community needs housing for diverse incomes, workers, families and seniors, and services for residents already here. We trust that Derek will listen, research, and make thoughtful decisions on behalf of the community.
After meeting Derek at a recent “Meet & Greet”, I've concluded that he's a good solid candidate for City Council and should be a great asset to the community. His background is impressive and spans both the public and private sectors of a community such as Sedona. He has immersed himself in “Sedona Life” since moving here in 2016. He wants to see Sedona thrive as a community where both residents and tourists enjoy life together. Hopefully, he can help bring the “Arts” in Sedona back to the forefront since it has been known as “A City Animated by the Arts.” That's what brought Sedona “to the dance” years ago and is still important to our community.
I support Derek Pfaff for Sedona City Council. His legal background, his commitment as a volunteer in Sedona, and his commitment to public school education would be valuable assets to Sedona City Council.
As a Sedona resident since 1997, I have witnessed and experienced many changes in our paradisiacal home, some favorable, others not. As a candidate for City Council, Derek Pfaff checks the important boxes with his positions on education, traffic concerns, and managing the impact of STRs. Best wishes, Derek, I applaud your dedication. Our city needs your fresh input.
A vote for Pfaff is a vote for progress. In a town where progress can be a four-letter word, Derek speaks for the people. He is Sedona.
Derek is deeply connected to this community. He has an important set of skills this city will need for the coming issues Sedona faces. And his rational and realistic thinking will ensure the best outcomes for Sedona.
"This check better clear."
"I don't take checks."
"Get that *$@#$) camera out of my face."
